DSWD communicators attend 1st nat’l info gab

Davao City (DSWD XI) – Eleven communications officers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) participated in the first ever National Information Convention (NIC 2018) spearheaded by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and its main development communication arm, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

Held at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang from February 19 to 21, the NIC 2018 was attended by over 1700 information officers from national agencies, local government units and academe; media practitioners; regional directors; representatives from national agencies; and local chief executives from all over the country.

The DSWD information officers came from Central Office, regions 1, 3, 10 and 11.

Imparted by select resource persons were the following topics: Build, Build, Build; Communicating Energy Efficiency and Conservation; Federalism; Public Diplomacy in Government Communication;  Rehabinasyon; Media Security; Knowing and Understanding the Media; Freedom of Information; Governance and Social Security; Knowledge Management; Empowering Government Communicators; Empowering Communities Through Media and Information Literacy; Grassroots Communication; Community Broadcasting; Community Mobilization; Risk Communication; Civic Engagement and Nation Building; Digital Media for Social Mobilization; Introduction to Government Information Centers and Information Volunteers’ Network; and Communicating Advocacy Through Film.

Other highlights of the event were the exhibits of various government communications offices like the National Printing Office, News and Information Bureau, Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, People’s Television Network, Radio Television Malacaňang, PIA, Bureau of Broadcast Services, Bureau of Communications Services, OP Web Development Office, and Apo Production Unit; launch of the Duterte App; and the fireside chats which capped the daily activities.

Director General Harold E. Clavite of PIA opened the convention while participants were welcomed by Mayor Sara Z. Duterte through First District Councilor Ma. Clara Belen S. Acosta.

The keynote message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was read by Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar of PCOO while Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano of Department of Foreign Affairs delivered the inspirational message on the last day. (DSWD)

OIC Secretary Leyco lauds DSWD workers as the Department turns 67

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Officer-in-Charge Emmanuel A. Leyco lauded the efforts of each employee of the Department and encouraged them to continue to provide genuine public service to the Department’s clientele.

 

“I have always been proud of the employees of the DSWD as I have seen their dedication and strong commitment to providing excellent government service to the people that we serve—the poorest of the poor, the vulnerable, and the disadvantaged Filipinos,” OIC Leyco said.

 

“No matter what kind of job you perform under the DSWD, please know that your labor is not in vain as every task you accomplish helps the Department achieve its strategic goals, which include helping to alleviate the lives of the poor from poverty. I urge you, my fellow public servants to uphold the principle of honesty and integrity, and to continue to provide dedicated public service to our clients as the DSWD turns another year older this year.”

DSWD kicks off 67th anniversary with Foot Parade

Davao City (DSWD XI) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI kicked off its 67th anniversary with a Foot Parade from Ramon Magsaysay Park to the Regional Office at cor. R. Magsaysay Ave. and D. Suazo Sts. today, February 26.

The foot parade was participated by members of the different divisions and rehabilitation centers of the field office, and some fifty (50) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program partner beneficiaries, and was graced by Regional Director Mercedita P. Jabagat herself.

DSWD FO XI has lined up activities for the two-day celebration including a thanksgiving mass, photo and product exhibits, DSWD market-market, wellness program, and a blood donation orientation in the Regional Office.

On February 27, the DSWD FO XI will also recognize outstanding partners, volunteer groups, people’s organizations, and employees that have greatly contributed in the implementation of the Department’s programs and services. The awarding ceremony will be held at Apo View Hotel, J. Camus St., Davao City.

The theme of this year’s anniversary celebration is: Walang Puwang sa Katiwalian ang Paglilingkod nang Tapat sa Bayan. (DSWD)

DSWD assists DavSur inmates

AID TO INMATES. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Davao Del Sur Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office distribute vanity kits to 26 female inmates at the Provincial Rehabilitation Center, Provincial Capitol, Digos City as part of the DSWD Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) Community Outreach Program. An orientation on the DSWD-CIU was presented to the inmates prior to actual distribution. DSWD workers are assisted here by Provincial Warden Dominic Bucol. (DSWD/laf)
